living in the Loire
Located on the island of Nantes, with the Loire in the background, the idea of the project is to live in the river. Each accommodation is thought in order to capture views of the great wild landscape that characterizes the Loire. By opening the dead-end street, the project also offers direct access to the banks of the Loire for all the neighborhood residents. The accommodations are organized in parallel, narrow and crossing strips.
As, they are never built on the same line and offer overhangs upstairs, each accommodation can get a view onto the river. The living rooms are located upstairs with wide windows opening on the landscape. They are also extended by generous terraces. The houses create a dense and carved architectural universe: By modifying the slope of the roofs, the accommodations can be personalized (my house looks like my neighbor’s but it is not exactly the same). Framed with wood, the windows show a simple and neat moulding. The wood finds an echo in the loggias of the collective building that indicate the entrance to the plot.
