an anchoring point between the streets
This program consists of 56 housing units and is being built in the place of the”belvédères”, a group of aging buildings from the 1960s that has constructed the identity of the large-scale Bourderies complex for a very long time. Contributing to the improvement of image of this district, our proposal is clearly anchored on the urban boulevard that structures this area, along a tramway line. This anchorage point takes the shape of a vertical architecture. Its crenellated silhouette is deployed in the direction of the heart of the plot.
From a formal point of view, the roof fragmentation causes a reduction of the scales, introduces the topic of the house and breaks the linearity of the two buildings that face each other. At the center of the project, the garden adds new consistency to this vast site: designed in an overall logic, it ties the buildings together, hide the bases and guides the ways towards the entrances. Adorned with embankments, vegetated shallow ditches and footbridges, punctuated with benches, the garden unfolds like an invitation to go for a walk. Each face of the buildings shows external areas: sometimes loggias or passageways depending on the exposures. As all housing units have a double-orientation, the facades appear like inhabited spaces.
