the history of a private town house
With an exceptional park and a private town house built at the beginning of the 19th century, the site ranks among the “Nantes listed heritage sites”. Modified and enlarged in the 1960s for office use, the interior was particularly damaged. The project gives a new coherence to this composite set. The objective is to accommodate about thirty people from a law firm in the best working conditions. New spaces are bright, comfortable and serene.
Our work was to reveal the architectural potential of each part of the complex in order to make the most of it: The hotel now found its original splendor: woodwork, wooden floors, elaborate staircase are updated while the original height of the ceilings is restored.
The soberness of the reinforced concrete structure of the 1960s extension is highlighted by the large regular openings which have been drilled to benefit fully from the stunning view of the park. On the street side facade, the stone is now visible and the windows are now large single bay windows.
